Badia, Pedraces and San Leonardo are at the foot of the majestic sides of Santa Croce in a natural scenery like no other both in summer and in winter.

Since the Bronze Age people has been settling down in Badia: in fact by Sotciastel were found some guns and tools of that Era.
Saint Ojöp Freinademetz from Oies was born here. A visit to Santa Croce sanctuary and to the church of San Leonardo are recommended. Among the local peaks the most important are Gardenaccia (2500 m), Conturines (3064 m), La Varela (3055 m), Cima Dieci (3023 m) and the massif of Sasso della Croce (2907 m) which is one of the most representative symbols of Val Badia. Last but not least, these peaks form part of the natural parks Fanes-Senes-Braies and Puez-Odle.
