Winter sports - Snow shoes and walking

Winter walkings in Val Badia

Imagine to be surrounded by a rare silence, over fresh snow near to an isolated alpine hut and around you there's only one thing: the nature with its silver and pale peaks, fascinating expanses of woods and meadows, mountain profiles on the horizon, a divine air and a resourceful energy that invades your body and your mind. You're imagining the landscapes of ladin valleys and living emotions that bloom observing the Dolomites, if you opt for a walking with the snowshoes.

For our ancestors snowshoes represented an indispensable means of transport and now they have become an important means to practice a fantastic sport that requires some physical effort but that offers great satisfactions.

In our section “Tours” you can find some suitable itineraries for your winter excursions but also for simple walkings in the snow.

Itineraries with snowshoes and winter walkings in Val Badia

We want you to remember some localities of an absolute natural value for your excursions with snowshoes. Starting from Alta Badia we have to mention the meadows of Pralongià, reachable from Corvara or from San Cassiano. Even if occupied by pistes and ski lifts there are still many untouched areas and the view is very extended: Conturines, Lavarelle, Boè, Settsass and many other peaks are perfectly visible from here.

From Colfosco or also from Passo Gardena it is possible to reach the natural park of Puez-Odle, passing near to the Cir and entering in a suggestive place of an extraordinary beauty.

In San Cassiano we advise to walk down the woods up to the Alpine hut Scottoni, and for those who want it, also up to the Forcela de Lech.

In Badia and in La Val/Wengen the ideal place is represented by Armentara, expanses of meadows and woods that connect La Valle with the sanctuary of Santa Croce, reachable also with the ski lift. From Pedraces it is possible to reach Juvel, a very beautiful locality with a wonderful view over the Sas dla Crusc. In La Valle we want you also to remember the Rit and for sportsmen the Passo Sant Antone, to arrive to the natural park of Fanes-Senes-Braies.

In Longiarù/Campill guests can choose the wonderful valley of Antersasc, in the natural park of Puez-Odle, get on the Crëp dales Dodesc or on the Funtanacia, where a relaxing walking brings you to the Passo Furcia. In Longiarù also the easy reachable and sunny meadows of Cialneur and Vaciara represent an extraordinary sight during winter and offer fantastic views also over the Sas dla Crusc and over the mountains of the natural park of Puez-Odle, few steps away from the Putia.

In Antermoia it is possible to reach the Würzjoch from the town or to reach it by car to choose the tour around the Putia or you can also opt for a walking in direction Göma or in direction Munt da Rina and Monte Muro. The Munt da Rina is also reachable through an easy walking with snowshoes starting from the town of Rina.

In the municipality of Al Plan/St. Vigil in Enneberg and in the ski area of Kronplatz the best choice is surely represented by the natural park of Fanes-Senes-Braies, and starting from Pederü it is possible to choose the direction Senes or Fodara Vedla or direction Fanes. In both the localities there are really a lot of possible winter walkings and routes. In San Vigilio guests can also start from the Furkelpass or from the locality Ciamaur to reach Piz da Peres and Fojedöra, a rarely visited and very fascinating area.

For those who desire a more quite winter walking without the use of snowshoes we advise the path that is developed along the river Gadera, that passes from Corvara up to Pedraces, the locality Armentara in San Cassiano, the Tru cultural in Badia, the path that connects La Villa with the lake of Sompunt, the locality Pares and Seres in Longiarù and the Tru dles Liëndes in San Vigilio.
